Module 4 CPC For Buses And Coaches
When I took my bus driving tests earlier this year, I looked far and wide on the internet for information on Module 4. There is very scant information to be found. I even tried youtube. There are official DSA videos on youtube but nothing that really helped me to know what to expect with module 4. I went in for the test with some knowledge and was fortunate enough to pass first time. After passing the test I decided to use my experience and document the questions and my answers in order that I could help others pass too.
There are five distinct areas where you will be questioned. You have to carry out a practical demonstration to show the examiner that you fully understand the issues about driving a bus coach. The five areas are:-
1. Ability to load the vehicle with due regard for safety rules and proper vehicle use
2. Security of the vehicle and contents
3. Ability to prevent criminality and trafficking in illegal immigrants
4. Ability to assess emergency situations
5. Ability to prevent physical riskThe examiner will ask you questions based on these five criteron. For example, take the first one. The question would be,
Show me where you would find the information about the unladen weight of
this bus?
Your answer would be:-
Show
the examiner where on your bus the plate showing the unladen weight is. (This is
usually on the nearside of the bus and could be on a plate outside or inside by the step)
How much would 15 passengers 15 suitcases and 100 litres of fuel weigh?
Your answer would be:-
15 passengers would weigh 1 tonne, 15 suitcases would weigh 330 kg and 100ltrs of fuel
would weigh 100kg.
How much would 45 passengers 45 suitcases and 250 litres of fuel weigh?
Your answer would be:-
45 passengers would weigh 3 tonne, 45 suitcases would weigh 1 tonne and 250ltrs of fuel
would weigh 250kg.
